Looking Up At Saturn

9:49 PM

Last week we went down to the beach with our telescope in hand. My mother was visiting, so it was a great chance for Brian and I to spend some quality time with just the boys. Saturn was in view and we were determined to see it. Our telescope isn't the most powerful, but we were able to see Saturn's rings. Plus, looking through and seeing the moon always amazes me. The boys loved looking through the telescope and learning about space. This was even a great way for them to learn and ask questions about space, and to see it with there own eyes not just on the internet. We even had a few people walking by on the beach ask if they could see too. There is nothing like looking through a telescope no matter how old you are.

I have always loved looking up, but seldom do these days. We had recently watched a Joe Rogan stand-up and he had a whole bit about space and looking up (see video below). It really made sense, and it's what gave me the idea that we should get the telescope out. The thing is, you don't need a telescope to see how awesome it is, and to really feel how small we are in the grand scheme of things. Just go out and look up, really take a minute and look up! Look up with your kids, or your spouse. Use a telescope. Don't use a telescope. Find out when the next full moon is. When Saturn and its rings are in view. When there is going to be a meteor shower. It's truly amazing and awesome. Just go out and look up! You will be glad you did.
