A Pair of Instagram Inspired Paintings

I have finally found a process with my painting. Tone the canvas, charcoal sketch, go over charcoal sketch with paint to outline, then start adding the layers of color. This process made it feel so much more complete to me. It gave me a bit more patience when the kids needed me for a few moments here and there because I knew where I was in my process. I knew I had to wait for layers to dry a bit before continuing which gave me time to step back from it and time to get other things done in the house without feeling like I was being torn away from painting. This little change in the way I create art has made a extremely large difference in my work and my home. Below are the photos of each step and then the final paintings. They are now listed for sale in my Etsy Shop. I hope they go to a good home because I love this pair so much!

Note: these pieces were inspired by crankymommys' Instagram photos again. I do love her photos! I think I need to make something for her. ;)

Do you have a creative process that helps you? I'm always looking for ways to be more organized creatively. I'm sure others are too. Please feel free to share your tips in the comment section.
